The Devil Wears Prada
The book is pretty good... it's fun, and fast moving so it was easy/quick to read. The author, Lauren Weisberger, is clever and witty and definitley tells a good story. However, I didn't find the book to really be anything special.
The tale is ages old..... girl gets all wrapped up in herself/her new good fortune/her job/her boyfriend/ect. and forgets all about her friends/family/ect.. then she has a moment when she realizes how horrible shes acting and shes changes her ways and fixes everything with the people she hurt... and everyone lives happily ever after.... Nothing new or groundbreaking here guys.
But my question is: What's so wrong with putting a few things on hold to pursue your career? I mean really.. when it all boils down to it.. you're all you have. It may sound selfish, and in some ways it can be... but the people who really love and care about you should be able to understand that you have goals that you want to reach.. things that you need to do for you... just like you should understand if your friends or family are trying to reach their goals and such (of course when it comes down to a dieing friend halfway across the country or your job, like in the book, its a tougher issue).
But anyway, it's a fun story, with a neat insight into the fashion/magazine world, and a happy ending.
Read it if:
You like quick reading.
You want an easy story.
You like fashion.
Don't read it if:
You're looking for something intelligent.
I'd recommend it to young girls... or cheerleaders ;)

What's so wrong with putting a few things on hold to pursue your career? NOTHING. JUST REMEMBER, YOUR CAREER WON"T COMFORT YOU WHEN YOU ARE HURTING AND LONELY.

Understood and Agreed... thats why you wait for a time when you've accomplished the things you want/need to do on your own.. then you move to pursuing the things that will comfort you when you are hurting and lonely.
